Mariana Rio

Mariana Rio it's a freelance illustrator abased in Porto, Portugal.
She loves her job and commits herself to every challenge she accepts to take.

Having decided she would become an illustrator no matter what when she was just a child, pursued studies and graduated in Communication Design by the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Porto and studied also in the Academy of Fine Arts of Wroclaw.

Nowadays she lives her dream of creating concepts, narratives, impossible worlds and imaginary characters for publishing houses, recognized design studios and successful companies.

Her work has been featured by the Bologna Children's Book Fair (2018 & 2013), Nami Island International Picture Book Illustration Competition Seoul, 3x3 The Magazine of Contemporary Illustration, CJ Picture Book Awards and the Portuguese National Illustration Prize, among others.
