Discovery wanted to host a launch event to introduce Discovery staff members at the brand new 1 Discovery Place building in Sandton to the amenities and services available in the building.
We turned the launch into a fair to add an element of gamification in order to create interest before the event and on the day.
Fairs traditionally work on a ticket-based system and have games and stalls with food and paraphernalia. Employees were encouraged to earn and collect tickets before the event via a desk drop. The desk drop included a fair goodie bag (to house all the treats and vouchers offered by partners on launch day), an invitation to attend the fair with instructions to visit the different stores before fair day to gain tickets, a fair map with specifics on each exhibitor and their service offering, as well as a detailed map of where each store is located in the 1DP building and their first fair ticket. The goodie bag was completed with a whimsical wind toy.
On the day of the fair, employees had the opportunity to interact with the various facility partners and gather more tickets. Each facilities partner had fair-specific branding for the day, such as special cup sleeves for Vida e.
3 digital games on large screens with leaderboards take centre stage at the fair. Each game has an awareness aspect, to help educate employees on all the facilities available to them. At the end of the fair, the highest scorers on the leaderboards contended for the big prize - a hamper containing prizes from all the partners.
