The CNC (National Center for Culture), in his history of sixty-seven years has been seeking to extend its action to the city of Porto (CNC Porto). The FNB – Festa na Baixa (Downtown Festival) is the most visible activity. The first edition took place in 2006, the year that the CNC Porto began operations. Since then, the Festa na Baixa has, year after year, gain prominence and recognition as a major cultural events in the city of Porto.The downtown Port is an urban area with a rich historical heritage and built a strong cultural identity. The valuation of these assets is necessary for the animation of spaces in order to attract the public, to involve the cultural and local history together and revitalize the surrounding area. The festival in downtown configures itself as a permanent event and schedule regular, to develop and consolidate the development of cultural heritage of downtown Porto, through a qualified and coherent animation in monuments, buildings of historical interest, places of memory, equipment and public spaces. This initiative is as a cultural product innovation, leverage and aggregator of various synergies and sustainability event.
