My name is Daniela Riveros and I am a graphic designer from Santa Fe, Argentina, now living and working in Barcelona.

I am fascinated by signs, books and handwritten pages; by hidden spaces that find me or which I delight in finding myself. I love calligraphic strokes, and calligraphy transports me into a sort of dream world. Although I still have a lot to learn and a long way to go, I nevertheless keep “dirtying my hands” and playing around with ink. Which brings me onto my other loves: printed signs, the scent of ink on paper, how letters come together in a book – before I buy one, I always take a look at the layout of the text (old habits die hard).

I fell in love with typography as a teenager when, without really knowing why, I used to enjoy drawing and playing with ligatures, joining together signs that I would copy from the typefaces used in magazines. After studying graphic design in visual communication at the Universidad Nacional del Litoral in Santa Fe, I stuck around, spending seven years teaching typography and design workshops, allowing me to continue to my discovery of typography from a professional point of view.

After closing that chapter in my life, I moved to Barcelona, where I have continued both to work as a designer and to develop and explore my creative skills. This has included attending conferences and workshops led by the likes of Pati Nuñez, Ivan Castro, Lars Harmsen and Keith Adams. These have taken me back to one of my great inspirations, Silvia Cordero Vega, under whom I studied in Argentina and who played a key role in unlocking my passion for calligraphy. Read Less
